Reluctant music star reclaims her voice

The old Kimball piano in Cortney Tidwell's basement holds generations of family history, and it shows on the outside: ornately carved florettes on its front crumbling to splinters, seven of its 88 keys stripped of the glossy top that once made pulsing on them smooth and comfortable.

"I hated that piano," Tidwell says, remembering its ringing strings keeping her up nights as a young girl. "Hated it, hated it, hated it."

Circuit City plugs in to Mt. P.

On a quest to plug in to growing markets, the Circuit City electronics chain is eyeing Mount Pleasant for its second store in the region.

The company plans to set up shop in part of a vacant supermarket in the Wando Crossing Shopping Center off U.S. Highway 17, according to plans filed recently with the town.

"We're excited to be moving into the area," said Circuit City spokeswoman Stephanie Knightlinger.

The new 20,300-square-foot store is expected to open by next fall, she said. It will carry the chain's typical assortment of consumer electronics, movies and music, she said.

It also will offer the company's new "Firedog" house-call service, similar to rival Best Buy's "Geek Squad," providing electronics installation and computer support and service.

[Wii] Nintendo launches a new Wii Channel

Last night I went home and turned on my Nintendo Wii. Out of pure chance I checked out the Wii Ware section in the Shopping Channel and low and behold, I found a new addition: The Everybody Votes Channel. After downloading the channel and updating my Wii I took it for a spin. Needless to say, it's kinda quirky and kinda cool. Below are some details straight from Nintendo: A brand new channel launches today for the Wii Menu providing a quick, easy and fun way to cast your answers to a multitude of different questions. The Everybody Votes Channel allows you to compare and contrast your opinions with those of friends, family and people from across the globe. With a regularly updated supply of new questions to ponder, this is a great way to discover not only differences between you and your family, but also between your country and others! ″If you have ever wondered whether many other people share the same opinions, preferences, likes or dislikes as you, then the Everybody Votes Channel is a quick and easy way to quell those curiosities″ says Laurent Fischer, Marketing Director, Nintendo of Europe.
